The show highlights depictions of faces and
figurative art in a variety of materials
including ceramics, fiber, painting, and mixed
media sculpture. Featured artists include Doug DeLind, Laura Foster Nicholson, Corkie Neuhaus,
Anthony Pack, Joyce Rebora, Adam Rebora, Steve
Bines, and Peter Vale.

Please join us at Vale Craft Gallery on Friday,
September 6 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm for the opening
reception of our show Color and
Texture featuring fiber art by Boisali Biswas
and ceramics by Randy O'Brien. Using bold color
and innovative textures, both Randy O'Brien and
Boisali Biswas create distinctive work in their
respective mediums.
The exhibition continues through November 3.
Randy O'Brien's ceramic vessels and wall pieces
feature a vivid three-dimensional glaze surface
inspired by the mineral formations, mudflats and
lichens of southern Arizona. It took over 15
years for the artist to develop this unique
"crawl" glaze.
The fiber assemblages by Boisali Biswas include
mixed media weavings incorporating strips of
textured wallpaper painted by the artist, as
well as a new installation of hanging pieces.
Originally from India, Boisali combines the rich
colors of her cultural heritage with
contemporary forms, techniques, and materials in
her work.

reception of an exhibition featuring fiber wall
pieces by Wendy Franklin. The artist
layers hand-dyed
wool and silk using a felting technique to
create beautiful abstract art with luminous
colors.
Vale Craft
Gallery's opening launches a new season in
conjunction with the River North Design
District's
Fall Gallery Walk
featuring artwork in 18 design showrooms, as
well as an array of exhibition openings
in 20 galleries
centered at Superior and Franklin. Wendy
Franklin's artwork will also be on view for a
month at
Lightology (215 W. Chicago) in a special
vignette designed by Jasmin Reese Interiors.

Our Summer Group Show is dedicated to the memory
of James Carl Aschbacher, a
beloved Vale Craft Gallery artist for the past
23 years, who passed away April 25
at
the age of 66. James' exuberant joie de vivre
lives on in his whimsical paintings
that
are treasured by his many friends, collectors,
and community.
We invite you to raise a glass and say "Cheers!"
(as James liked to do) to
celebrate an artistic life, and a life well
lived.

The show will feature the artist's abstract wall
pieces created using a wet
felting process that layers hand-dyed silk and
merino wool. Wendy Franklin
is becoming well known in the contemporary fiber
world for her innovative use
of materials combined with strong color,
texture, and design.

Kiln Formed Glass II
September 11th -

Please join us for our
second exhibition of innovative kiln-formed
glass by five artists: Janet Kelman, Richard
Parrish,
Steve Immerman, Robin Kittleson, and Alice
Benvie Gebhart. Also known as fused glass,
kiln-formed glass is
created from sheet glass
that is cut and fit together, then fired in a
kiln to about 1500 degrees until it fuses.
The show will include
freestanding and wall hung panels, as well as
bowls and trays, in styles ranging from

The show will feature 15 to 20 of
Boisali Biswas’ contemporary fiber wall hangings
inspired by the
art and culture of India . Blending modern and
traditional techniques and materials, the artist
creates vibrantly colored weavings combining
dyed linen with strips of hand-painted, textured
wallpaper. The exhibition will feature both
abstract designs and architectural subject
matter
inspired by the artist’s recent travels in India
